To conjure love, leave these offerings-

Gifts of nuts on a snow dusted log,

dried berries scattered on rusty swings,

bread crumb trails on quiet earthen paths.

Tokens to attract the lone Blue Jay

and entice his so rare whisper song

that opens all hearts to what may be.

Watch love appear in theatre seats,

in open dance halls, on tree lined paths,

down forbidden church hall corridors.

In dark martini bars where time stops

and waits for stars to dot the night sky.

Where kisses can be stolen, returned,

and all that was unsaid is spoken

in a whisper, red twine through two hearts.
