This is the way we do it

This is the way we do it. One day, one moment, one second. Breathe and release what is lost. So many drownings on the river this summer. So many lost hikers. The forest, the water, holds the suffering and cleanses. I immerse myself in the waters, let the current carry me downstream. Wait for the approaching dusk. There are no bats anymore, not here. They sprayed for insects, so the bats don’t come. That’s the way they do it. Eliminate the unpleasant. Writers, actors, dancers, artists, we absorb the unpleasantness and twist it and turn it until it is unrecognizably beautiful and breathtaking. Mesmerizing and painful. This is the way we do it. One day, one moment, one second.
